My Mother: Isange
(Florence Ayisi, 2005, 7 mins )
Synopsis
My Mother: Isange is a personal and affectionate tribute in memory of my Mother and the Precious Gift she gave us, her 10 children. I am still searching for her 21 years after she passed away. How can she die? She is my Mother! I was not present at the funeral and the trauma of this makes it difficult for me to accept the loss of a dear and special woman who dearly loved and stood up for her children. She wanted all of us (her 10 children) to have what she was denied - Education. She was a strong and determined woman who never realized her potential. I am proud that she was my Mother, because she made me who I am today. She was a positive woman whose outlook on life was rosy despite the difficulties of raising 10 children.
I made this film in memory and in praise of my Mother whose death has left an everlasting vacuum in my life. I am proud that she was my Mother because she has made me who I am today.
